Automotive Facebook Ads is quickly becoming the go-to marketing channel for car dealerships everywhere.

Traditional marketing like radio & cable are fine – but most dealers are never fully satisfied… Why is that?

  • Radio & Cable, by nature of being offline media, are COMPLETELY unreliable when it comes to accurately tracking a return on your investment.
  • Online marketing with, Facebook or Google, not only allows more targeted advertising but also allows conversions to be tracked from A to Z.
  • This means that we are able to give you an exact return on investment, every single month.
  • We’ve never missed our ROI goals.

Just How Reliable and Profitable Can This Be? Take a second to look at the results from April and May 2019 at a SINGLE dealership.

That’s right – this shows over 120 cars sold – in just two months. On average, we spent only $85 per car sold! Now, keep in mind, this dealer has other marketing costs (website, seo, google ads, etc.) but they are using the Set Show Sold formula to drive down Facebook Ad costs.

So How Do We Actually Drive Car Sales

We go into your CRM that, in most cases, is full of unused data. Then, we structure the data and analyze it… repackaging your existing customer base into an asset we use to find more customers in your top selling locations who are similar in behaviors and interests to the ones already in your CRM. We bucket your existing customers & leads by vehicles purchased, whether they bought new or used, sedans or SUVs, how they paid (financed, leased, or outright). Then, we build out custom audiences for each of these groups of people, because you don’t want to show the same ad to people leasing a 3-year-old sedan as you would someone outright buying a brand new truck. The markets are completely different – so the offer, targeting, and ad creative needs to be different.

What does this do for you, the dealer? As mentioned – it dramatically increases the effectiveness of ALL of your marketing campaigns. Normally, a dealer’s or sales manager’s thought process is:

“I need more sales, let me boost my Facebook posts to everyone in my city.”

Even a decent digital advertiser might take it a step further and come up with

“I need more sales, let me boost my Facebook posts to everyone in my city who are interested in car dealerships & sedans.”

While this is more effective, it’s not as efficient as our process.

Why Our Audiences Are Game-Changing

We upload your customer data to Facebook (it gets hashed/encrypted, so it’s secure) after segmenting by new/used purchases, financed/cash/leased, sedan/SUV/truck, etc. Then, Facebook will do what they do best (because they have the most extensive data set on the planet) and give us an audience of people similar in behaviors and interests to these people. In fact, they’ll give us the top 1% of the United States population that is similar in behaviors & interests to those people we segmented from your CRM by purchasing behavior.

Once we have your custom audience of people who are similar in nature to your existing customer base (ie. people who are likely to also be interested in the product you’re selling) we go back to your CRM to answer the following question – what zip codes produced the most sales in the past year?

Now the magic happens, people who are in the top 1% in terms of similarities to your existing customer base, who also live in these zip codes are the only people who get hit with your Facebook Ads. That’s reason number 1 why we’re able to optimize up to 60% of advertising costs out of many dealers budgets.

We have professional graphic designers handle creative work, like most agencies. Unlike most agencies, we make graphics for every base model your manufacturer produces, in every single color, and in every single angle – combined with a great offer and high-quality background.

Most dealers will use their lot pictures, taken on someone’s phone and hit with a quick watermark with their logo. The problem with this is these ads make your high-end dealership look like a used car lot. Our theory is that people don’t need to see the exact car they’re buying – they just need to see the model that they’re buying and if they’re interested they’ll request more information. Facebook also limits reach if an ads quality is poor. People are Facebook all day every day and its ability to target very specific people, is what makes it the best point of contact for dealerships. Once they request information and your BDC gets them in the door – the exact car can be narrowed down. But your low-quality lot photos of vehicles isn’t enough for them to even show interest and request more information which is why you haven’t seen real success on Facebook Ads.

Why do serve ads with every color?

We need the market to tell us what they want to see more of. By serving every color, we allow maximum ad coverage and get the most feedback and engagement. This engagement can be retargeted, so we are building up an audience of people to serve our contact form ads to. If we didn’t have every color (like every other agency) we would be making assumptions and limiting our ability to reach every customer.

Why Does This Work So Well?

Customers will see all the variety of colors for a specific model (ie. an Eclipse Cross) and like the one they prefer.

We can tell Facebook to serve our Eclipse Cross lead ad forms only to people who liked any color of the ads we sent, only people who similar in behaviors/interests as others who bought Eclipse Crosses, or a combination of these audiences.

We don’t spend money advertising to anyone who hasn’t shown, in one way or another, slight interest in a vehicle.
